Guy Park Manor Should Be Restored As Historic Site Not Hospitality Destination

By Daniel T. Weaver

I have mixed feelings about the newly revealed plans by Governor Cuomo for Guy Park Manor and Lock 11 in Amsterdam, NY. I am fine with illuminating the lock and dams at night. I also do not have a problem with the pedestrian bridge, which will be relatively inexpensive because it will make use of the infrastructure that already exists. It will not have to be built from scratch. Continue reading “Guy Park Manor Should Be Restored As Historic Site Not Hospitality Destination”

New York State Needs New Gov Not New Flag

By Daniel T. Weaver

NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo wants to add the Latin phrase “e pluribus unum” which means “out of many, one” to the New York State seal and flag. E pluribus unum is the motto of the United States and appears on paper money and the great seal and was approved by congress in 1782. The NYS flag already contains the Latin word excelsior meaning ever upward. It is hard to imagine–in fact it is unimaginative to add the US motto to the NYS flag. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik Calls on Governor Cuomo to Reinstate Federal Law Enforcement Access to State DMV Records

On December 13 Congresswoman Elise Stefanik sent a letter to Governor Cuomo opposing his decision to block all federal Law Enforcement officers from accessing the New York State DMV database. According to Stefanik, Federal Law Enforcement have not been notified of this decision. Cuomo Should Emulate Rather Than Ignore Trump Tax Break That Benefits NYS (Opinion)

Governor Andrew Cuomo’s stance on the Trump Administration’s cap on State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions has placed him in a strange position, in which the self styled progressive governor is suing the federal government because he believes the rich are being unfairly penalized by the tax cap. Of course, that’s not the way Cuomo writes the narrative. The governor is not going to admit he is fighting for tax breaks for the wealthy, even though that is what he is doing. New Law Forces Pro-Life Groups To Hire Pro-Abortion Employees (News)

Signed into law by Governor Andrew Cuomo on November 8, a new law (S-660) makes it illegal to discriminate against an employee based on their reproductive healthcare decisions. While the law has the potential to protect women from discrimination who choose to carry a baby to term, the law’s justification makes it clear that its purpose is to protect women who decide to have an abortion. Justification for the bill as provided on the New York State Senate’s website is as follows: Continue reading “New Law Forces Pro-Life Groups To Hire Pro-Abortion Employees (News)”
